Ketamine is administered via a very small IV catheter placed in your hand or arm. The infusion typically takes 40-45 minutes to complete. During this time your vital signs will be continuously monitored and we will make sure you are completely at ease. Every patient experiences the infusions differently and most find it the entire process to be seamless and comforting.
As ketamine is working on your body and brain, patients may experience different sensations. Some common sensations include a feeling of lightness or floating, decreased awareness of your surrounding or body, numbness or tingling, a positive shift in psychology and emotions.
Dizziness and nausea may occur in a minority of people and is easily treated. The uncomfortable “dissociative anesthetic” effect typically does not occur at the low doses of ketamine that will be administered to you. If you experience this side effect, your dosing can easily be adjusted and a relaxing medication can be administered.
Most patients find the entire experience to be tranquil, relaxing and pleasant. Our clinic has a calming spa like environment which will assist in making you feel as comfortable as possible during your infusion. Every patient gets their own private infusion room which is equipped with comfortable electric recliners, mood lighting, noise canceling headphones and aromatherapy
